Alexis Hess with her Lady-bug. Her story inspired the beginning of the Hess Cancer Foundation.
Pisith passed away with cancer in December 2005, and HCF was able to help them cover costs. They were the first family that HCF helped.
Brenda Trujillo passed away with cancer in August of 2006. The Hess Cancer Foundation was able to help her family with funeral costs. A close friend of Brenda’s Mother typed the letter below about Brenda.

On July 5th, 2009, Hardy Lin passed away after a long struggle with liver cancer. HCF helped his family with funeral costs.

On May 4th, 2010, Gavin passed on with brain cancer. HCF helped his family with related costs.
In September of 2010, Andrew Arnold passed away with cancer. HCF provided assistance to the Arnold family.

[...] RaceTri is proud sponsor of the Hess Cancer Foundation. A portion of all proceeds from RaceTri events go to support this great cause. The Hess Cancer Foundation, or HCF was established by Travis Hess and his family. They lost a young child to cancer and weren’t able to pay for the funeral. Someone anonymously gave Travis $1,000 to help with the funeral, which meant a great deal to him and Travis wanted to ‘pay it forward’. HCF was created in April of 2005 and received public charity status in March of 2006. It is now in its 8th year of operation. HCF’s purpose is to provide financial assistance to families that have lost a child to cancer and can’t afford a proper funeral.
